Joanie Calem - Kodem Kol Kavod

Joanie is a musician, storyteller and inclusion advocate who brings song, story and conversational programs to communities about inclusion with a Jewish lens. As a singer/songwriter and inclusion advocate, Joanie Calem leads "concert-conversations"about neuro-diversity and the need to create and maintain Jewish community spaces that actually allow all people to know that they belong. By providing workshops, professional development sessions and song and story materials, Joanie shares both practical strategies for best practices and philosophical reflection of Jewish texts for educators, family members, and community members who may be caring for individuals with non-conforming abilities and personalities.

Chai Mitzvah

Chai Mitzvah, the original small group program, enhances Jewish engagement and builds community through turnkey, engaging programming for every age from preschool to senior citizens at little or no cost – relevant text-based conversations, experiential learning, social action (even with social distancing) and spirituality. Chair Mitzvah was created as a way to engage adults, teens, and families in a Jewish journey throughout their lives, and to deepen their connection to Jewish communal organizations. Combining texts to spark discussion, ritual, and social action, Chai Mitzvah provides the framework for a meaningful Jewish journey through small ground study and social action. It is our goal to ignite deeper Jewish engagement and continued growth in every aspect of the journey.

Pardes Senior Educators Learning Fellowship: Enrichment and Professional Growth for Congregational School Principals and Senior Teachers

This exclusive 11-month fellowship, powered by the Pardes Center for Jewish Educators, is designed to inspire senior congregational school educators with ongoing Jewish learning and equip them with new approaches for engaging with real-world challenges using Jewish texts. Fellowship participants will travel to Israel this summer to be immersed in a cohort-based experience of rich Torah study and professional growth. Throughout the year, they will gather virtually to continue their learning. Supported by expert mentors, they will also plan and implement exciting and important projects for their congregational schools.

Parenting on a Prayer: Ancient Jewish Secrets for Raising Modern Children

Amy Grossblatt Pessah is a rabbi, author, spiritual director and mom. Serving various communities and demographics locally and nationally, Amy has been a Jewish educator for over thirty years with a specialization in Jewish Family Education. For the past two years, she has been teaching from her book, Parenting on a Prayer: Ancient Jewish Secrets for Raising Modern Children (Ben Yehuda Press, 2020) across the county (on zoom, of course!)
