Membership Categories

Thank you for your interest in membership in the Jewish Educators Assembly. Before completing the membership application, please read the following criteria carefully.


  • AFFILIATE
    Conservative Jewish educators with at least 1 year’s experience in an administrative position in a Jewish educational Institution             .
     
     
  • ASSOCIATE

    Conservative Jewish educators holding an MA in Jewish Education from a member school in the Association of Institutions of Higher Learning for Jewish Education (AIHJE).                                          OR
    Conservative Jewish educators holding a BA, with a minimum of 18 credits in Jewish Education or Studies, and 9 credits in Education.

     
  • Must fulfill all requirements for ASSOCIATE MEMBER.  In addition, three (3) consecutive years at the same Jewish educational institution and a Masters degree are required.
     
  • FELLOW
    Three consecutive years of FULL MEMBER status in good standing is required.  In addition, educators must hold a permanent Hebrew teacher’s license and a principal’s license recognized by the National Board of License
     
     
  • Dues in each of the above categories are .7% (7/10 of one per cent) of annual salary (salary X .007).  It is the expectation of the JEA that all members will compute/determine this amount.

     
  • STUDENT–Half of the requirements for MA in Jewish Ed. completed.     $50.00
  • ISRAELI–Educators who are currently residing in Israel.     $50.00
  • TEACHER–Teachers in non-administrative positions.     $75.00
  • RETIREE–Members over the age of 62 no longer working full time.     $50.00
  • ACADEMIC–Full time faculty members in a department of Jewish Education or Studies     $150.00
  • SUPPORTER–One who supports the work of this vital organization.     $150.00
  • The above categories accommodate the needs of our diversified membership.
  • Canadian members may pay dues based upon the prevailing rate of exchange; checks should be made payable in U.S. dollars.

    Dues are a suggested minimum.  Additional donations are encouraged.

    Individuals who work in non-Conservative Jewish educational settings but are supportive of the JEA goals are invited to join. Names of applicants who fulfill the above requirements are presented to the JEA Executive Board for approval at each of its quarterly meetings.

    The JEA welcomes the support of individuals who wish to strengthen Conservative Jewish educational institutions and professionals.
